ECE Job Board

Communications Internship

Put your journalism skills to use as an intern in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The ECE Department at Illinois is among the largest units on campus, with more than 100 faculty members and 1,500 students. The transistor laser, sound on film, plasma TVs, fiber optics, the LED, and the transistor are some of the many major inventions with roots at ECE Illinois.

The department is seeking an intern for its communications office. This is a paid internship that will involve working 10-20 hours a week. Duties include writing for the department’s Web site and publications, crafting news releases and Web site content, and assisting with other communications-related projects.

Juniors or seniors are preferred, but the most important qualification for this position is a passion for writing. An interest in science or engineering is a plus, but not required. You should be organized, persistent, and a good overall communicator. This position is a great resume builder in a leading department with a vibrant atmosphere.

To apply for this position, please e-mail, mail, or fax a cover letter, resume, and two writing samples. Please, no drop-ins or phone calls.
