ECE Site-Licensed Software
Through contracts with various software vendors, ECE is able to offer select software titles at little or no cost to the user. The different titles, and methods of obtaining the software, are listed below:
Microsoft Software, Excluding Office (MSDNAA Program)
Through its Academic Alliance program, Microsoft provides most of its titles to students in Engineering departments (including ECE and Computer Science). Software can be downloaded or borrowed from the Software WebStore; select titles are also available for purchase through the WebStore. Select the "Microsoft MSDNAA Program - Loaner Media Kit" option to borrow a copy of the CDs for the most popular titles. Microsoft Office is not available through the MSDNAA program. Microsoft Office
Microsoft Office is available to students at a reduced cost. Click on the "Software" tab in the Software WebStore to obtain MS Office. Faculty and staff needing MS Office for departmental use should obtain it through Central Stores' Microsoft Select program. Through this program, media and licenses are sold separately.Agilent, Cadence, and Xilinx
Software from these vendors is available from Computer and Technology Services (CTS) in room 323 Everitt. Titles include Advanced Design System (ADS), VEE Pro, Orcad, and ISE Foundation. ECE faculty, staff, and grad students may borrow copies of the media between the hours of 10am and 3pm, Monday through Friday. These titles are only to be used for University purposes; they may not be used for profit.
AutoCAD and Mathematica
Both of these titles are available from the UIUC Software WebStore. ECE faculty and staff (including Teaching Assistants and Graduate Assistants) may borrow the software for free. Students may purchase the software for a fee.
LabVIEW
The ECE Department provides a license for LabVIEW for instructional purposes. Please contact CTS in room 323 Everitt if you would like to use LabVIEW for course instruction. LabVIEW is available for a fee from the Software WebStore for research purposes.
MathType and Matlab
These titles are free for all ECE students, faculty, and staff. They can be downloaded from the Software WebStore.
Other Software Offers
The Software WebStore also offers other free and for-sale software to the entire UIUC community. Examples of free titles include McAfee VirusScan, SSH, and Eudora.
