The Gregory E. Stillman Memorial Fellowship was set up in 1999 to honor the memory of Prof. Greg Stillman. Prof. Stillman was a renowned research scientist in the areas of semiconductor materials and devices, with an emphasis on lasers and light emitting and detecting instruments. The fund agreement states that "the net income from the Fund shall be used to provide fellowships to graduate students enrolled in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering." The fund is sufficient to support two fellowships with a stipend of $5,000. These fellowships will be for one year only and nonrenewable. In addition to the fellowship stipend, it is expected that the recipient will have a half-time research assistantship.
