Gregory Stillman Memorial Fellowship

Description:

The Gregory E. Stillman Memorial Fellowship was set up in 1999 to honor the memory of Prof. Greg Stillman. Prof. Stillman was a renowned research scientist in the areas of semiconductor materials and devices, with an emphasis on lasers and light emitting and detecting instruments. The fund agreement states that "the net income from the Fund shall be used to provide fellowships to graduate students enrolled in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering." The fund is sufficient to support two fellowships with a stipend of $5,000. These fellowships will be for one year only and nonrenewable. In addition to the fellowship stipend, it is expected that the recipient will have a half-time research assistantship.

Criteria:

The awardees are selected using the following criteria:
  • The recipient must be a graduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
  • The recipient must have passed the qualifying exam and been admitted into the Ph.D. program.
  • The recipient must be doing research in the area of semiconductors or opto-electronics.

Applications:

This fellowship is no longer given.

Selection Process:

The ECE Fellowship committee will make the selection based on the applications submitted by the deadline.
