Description:

The Electrical Manufacturing & Coil Winding Association (EMCWA) is a technical society who's mission statement reads: "The Association is a non-profit voluntary organization dedicated to furtherance of the conception, research, design, manufacturing, marketing and use of electrical products. The association shall provide an array of educational opportunities which will enhance the development, knowledge, and use of electrical technology and products." Providing a forum to display products, ideas and innovations is a key element in the educational process.

The purpose of this scholarship fund is to assist students financially and to introduce them to the opportunities available in the electrical products industries.

Requirements:

  1. The recipients of the scholarship should have a major in Engineering or the sciences related to the electrical manufacturing industry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and be U.S. citizens or legal resident aliens.
  2. The recipients of these scholarships shall have exhibited traits of ability, scholarship, leadership, and interest in the electrical products industry as a career objective.
  3. The scholarship awards shall be announced immediately after selection has been made by the school, with payments to be applied to the student's University account equally for the following semesters.
  4. The student recipients shall be encouraged to attend the fall Electrical Manufacturing & Coil Winding Exposition. The students and faculty are also encouraged to prepare a paper on subjects of interest for presentation at the Association's annual conference.

Selection Process:

Scholarship forms can be picked up in 353 EL. Professor Peter Sauer is the faculty member selected to act as liaison with the Association. He works with the faculty and department administration to select the recipients from application forms collected from students in September. He then coordinates the attendance of student scholarship recipients and faculty/staff at the annual Electrical Manufacturing & Coil Winding Conference and Exhibition.

Award:

Each award carries a stipend of $500. Each recipient is recognized at the annual ECE Awards Banquet in April.
