Cadence® University Program Member

Cadence tools are being employed in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for instruction and research. Courses such as ECE 482, ECE 483 and ECE 425 employ Cadence tools for teaching integrated circuit design. Research in the areas of radio-frequency integrated circuit design, large-scale VLSI design, low-power and high-performance nanometer digital integrated circuits all employ Cadence tools. Research Groups Using Cadence®

  • ViPS
    VLSI Information Processing Systems (ViPS) Research Group, established in 1995 at the University of Illinois led by Prof. Naresh R. Shanbhag, is engaged in the design of high-performance integrated microsystems for multimedia digital signal processing and communication systems.

  • iCIMS
    The objective of the Illinois Center for Integrated Microsystems (iCIMS) is to facilitate collaborative research in the design of integrated microsystems, including integrated circuits, devices, systems, and structures.

  • Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory
    The Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research facility in the College of Engineering that houses advanced equipment to support research in photonics, microelectronics, nanotechnology, and biotechnology.

  • VLSI Testing (http://www.crhc.uiuc.edu/IGATE/)
    IGATE is a test generation and diagnosis system based on Genetic Algorithms (GAs) being developed at the University of Illinois' Center for Reliable and High Performance Computing. This project involves research and development in the areas of automatic test generation and fault diagnosis for the large chips envisioned by the high performance computing and communications industry.
